Meet Toby!!! He is an purebred, AKC registered Golden Retriever. Toby is just 1 year and 2 months old already weighs 90 pounds. He is a very big boy. He came to our rescue when his owner surrendered him because she has to have surgery and cannot take care him. Toby has some bad habits, but nothing some training will not take care of. Toby jumps on people and as you can imagine, a dog of his size, when he jumps on someone, it about knocks them down. He also will mouth an arm or hand occasionally in a playful manner or to get your attention. In addition to being head strong, Toby also has physical strengh do to his size. Toby is respectful and minds most of the time. Toby will need to continue his training so he does not slip back into his old behaviors. He needs a family committed to continue his training, take him for walks, and play ball with him, and expend his energy. He is still a puppy even though he doesn't look like a puppy. Toby is a big, powerful dog that needs to continue to understand he is NOT in charge. Toby can only go to a home with children over the age of 10. Toby walks well on a leash, is completely housetrained, and stays in the gated kitchen while his owner is away from home. Toby has never been crated and does very well with being gated in a specific area. Toby gets along with other dogs, but tends to show dominance. He does have a food protective issue and will get agressive with aother dog over food. He is fine with humans and his food, but not with other dogs. He is VERY smart, and incredibly sweet when he chooses to be. Toby is a beautiful dog and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. He is a special boy but does need a great deal of structure in his life! The adoption fee is $250.00. The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 16 weeks old), and spay/neuter when neccessary. The fee also helps with the cost of deworming, heart worm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. He will go home with a collar, leash, tag, training DVD, and vaccination record.
