Meet Hazelnut!

Hazelnut is a 10-pound bundle of personality who’s ready to find her forever home! She’s been a sweet companion in our home and will make the perfect match for someone looking for a loyal, loving sidekick.

 She’s done well with her foster family kids (ages 17, 10, and 6), but especially bonded with the 10-year-old — they even rode home together from her foster pickup! Hazelnut tends to find a cozy spot to tuck herself into, peeking out to keep tabs on the household. She’s a little boss lady in a tiny package!

 Hazelnut is still learning how to feel safe and loved. She shows signs of past mistreatment, likely from a male, and is adjusting to indoor life — things like the blender, oven beeps, and hair dryers can startle her. She’s not a fan of crunchy treats just yet, but she’s curious about crinkly toys and might just learn to love fetch someday.

 She’s incredibly affectionate and clingy — but in the sweetest way. She just wants to be near her person, no matter what you’re doing. She hasn’t had any accidents in her crate and only two minor ones in the house, so we think she’s doing great on the housebreaking front. Outside, she sticks close and follows along well, even off-leash (as long as someone is with her).

 Oh — and did we mention? She howls! We’re not sure if that’s a Havanese thing, but it’s definitely a Hazelnut thing.

 *The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary.  The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. He will go home with a collar, leash, and vaccination record.
